The Tenant Law Center is looking for a Case Manager/Outreach Coordinator to help our client’s address the non-legal needs that impact housing stability, and to help our program forge better connections with community-led and BIPOC-focused organizations so assistance and information are getting out to folx most in need.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Tenant Law Center (TLC) is a homelessness prevention program that offers free legal assistance to qualifying low income households in the City of Seattle with issues related to eviction, subsidy termination, landlord/tenant problems, and credit issues related to past tenancies. POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position will provide case management to TLC clients to assist with non-legal issues that affect long-term housing stability and the housing search if moving is necessary. In addition to case management, this position will conduct community outreach with a focus on BIPOC communities, strengthen our existing partnership and referral networks, and identify new community relationships and outreach opportunities. Responsibilities
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management:
Work with Staff Attorneys to identify participant strengths and barriers to stability and assist participants to reducing barriers and linking to resources and services.
Provide individualized case management for clients as directed by their stability goals, including but not limited to connecting clients to services that address disability needs, gender-based violence, emergency financial assistance, etc.
Provide housing location services as needed and advocate on behalf of client with potential landlords and other parties.
Create and maintain consistent communication channels, both verbal and written, between several parties (i.e. tenant, landlord, referral source, collaborating agencies, debtors and creditors).
Employ crisis management skills where necessary to assist clients in difficult situations.
Maintain physical case files and database entry in accordance with agency standards.
Community Outreach:
Network with community organizations, legal aid providers, local government agencies. Identify new potential community partners and strengthen relationships with existing community partners, and develop opportunities to collaborate to increase community knowledge of tenant’s rights.
Coordinate community education programs for tenants and community-based organizations.
Participate in community education events such as health fairs, community festivals and provider meetings.
Prepare articles on outreach activities for publication, newsletters, and social media.
General Responsibilities:
Observe/follow confidentiality guidelines and client privacy under the Rules of Professional Conduct.
Attend agency trainings as required.
Participate as team member in staff and supervisory meetings as required.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in the direct provision of social services with low-income and/or homeless families, or a combination of education, training, and experience which provides an equivalent background.
A commitment to race equity work and ending structural oppression.
Excellent computer skills, written and oral communication.
Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
Experience working with and understanding of data management systems
Commitment to embracing a team environment and the collaborative process
Commitment to working within the mission, goals and values of Catholic Community Services
Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.

Criminal history background checks are required prior to employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Fluency in second language that is spoken by a substantial number of King County clients
Demonstrated commitment to race equity work.
Knowledge of local social services and other community resources
Knowledge of the Residential Landlord Tenant Act and local housing codes.
