COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) has an opening in our Programs Division. The Community Engagement Manager performs their duties and responsibilities with a commitment to race equity and inclusion. The community focus is low-income veterans, seniors aged 55+, and marginalized populations throughout King County.
This is a dynamic opportunity to make equal access to justice in our community a reality. Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) provides civil legal services throughout King County. We are dedicated to working with people facing crises that need a legal solution. We also educate communities about their legal rights. We work for free to solve legal issues and provide a broad range of resources for our community members.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Outreach and relationship building
• Serve as the main connection point for community partners (current and new) in King County to improve legal services in our local communities. o Conduct ELAP info sessions to partner agencies to inform and educate the leadership and staff on our services and how their clients access them.
o Attend various community meetings, coalition-building projects, and workshops around King County, primarily outside of Seattle. The purpose and goal are to share info on ELAP services and find opportunities for collaboration with other agencies to expand the scope of relevant programmatic services, consults, and referrals.
o Receive requests from community partners about potential clients; record client information into ELAP's legal database (training will be provided) and connect these clients to internal and external legal resources.
o Connect community partners. Not every organization has a staff position dedicated to community engagement, so we are uniquely positioned to help facilitate these connections.
Community Events
• Plan events that focus on low-income veterans, seniors aged 55+, and marginalized populations who are residents of King County. o Organize Know Your Rights webinars regarding civil legal aid issues for the broader community (examples are Tenant/Landlord Laws, Veteran's issues, etc.). Deliver this information in an easily accessible manner.
o Manage the logistics for these events, which include: - Identifying and confirming speakers;
- Serve as the moderator or assign a moderator;
- Handle the technical aspects of Zoom,
- Manage the Q&A portion of the event,
- Follow up with attendees after the event with the recording and any relevant info;
- Manage the use of different venues. If it is an in-person event, coordinate with the venue, attendees, and presenters any safety protocols related to COVID-19.
- Set appointments for clients at workshops with ELAP's various services.
o Identify the need for interpreters by clients and coordinate the various formats for interpreter and translation services.
o Upload webinar recording to Vimeo and update the Webinars page on ELAP's website for easy access by the community.
Other Responsibilities
• Work with Program Director to identify gaps in services or potential new program ideas based on knowledge gained from outreach and engagement and develop a plan to address those gaps and ideas. This area of work should be in line with ELAP's Strategic Plan and commitment to race equity.
• Submit reports regarding services to Operations Director for grant writing and local and county-related funding (training will be provided).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (telephonically, via online platforms, and in-
person) with the ability to work successfully with a wide range of people while maintaining
composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job's essential duties.
• Committed to ELAP's mission in promoting equal access to justice.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high quality and productivity.
• Ability to learn quickly with exceptional attention to detail.
• Highest level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and, internet navigation.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance.
• Stay current on ELAP's positions regarding issues impacting communities we serve in an effort to respond to inquiries from clients and community partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with donor and legal databases (Little Green Light / Legal Server).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Experience working in a legal setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS
Work Hours: Base 40 hours/week, will include some evenings and weekend work
Salary: $60,000.00 per year
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance, 401(k) with match, 12 paid Holidays, 12 vacation days and sick leave, plus the week between Christmas Day and New Year's off
