Disability Rights Washington seeks a Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships. This is a senior leadership level position in a highly impactful, innovative, well-established organization with a diversified financial position, a developing culture of philanthropy and growing development program. Director will work closely with the leadership team, supervise a part-time Development Coordinator, oversee a Consultant/grant writer and facilitate and lead the Development Committee. Disability Rights Washington has a budget of approximately $5.2 million, of which the Strategic Partnerships Program has progressively increased contributed revenue, most recently raising $980,000 in the last fiscal year. The new Director of Strategic Partnerships will work with the Director of Operations to establish target revenue goals.
The Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships contributes substantively to the pursuit of DRW’s goals related to diversity, equity and inclusion including implementation and incorporation of disability justice principles and optional participation in race-based caucusing.
This position will be fully remote to start due to COVID and then will remain partially remote with a strong preference for a Seattle based office.
The Director of the Strategic Partnerships will plan, strategize and oversee all fundraising efforts, build strong relationships, and deepen our culture of philanthropy.

Education and Experience
Five years of experience in nonprofit philanthropy or comparable experience.
Salary and Benefits:
This full time position has a salary range of $82,000 to $86,000. DRW offers a range of benefits including a platinum rated health plan with medical and dental included, employee benefit is paid for by DRW, 5% employer contribution to a 401k, flex spending and dependent care account options, long-term disability and life insurance benefit, a standard 35 hour work week with additional hours necessary to meet job requirements, and a passionate team.
Abilities Specific to the Position
Ideal candidates will have an understanding and willingness to engage in the transformative work of challenging systems of oppression and be excited to address the tensions that exist between philanthropy and disability justice.
Strategic alignment with mission, values, goals and priorities of Disability Rights Washington.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn the systems that impact people with disabilities and the advocacy models that Disability Rights Washington utilizes to address these systems.
Demonstrated success in mobilizing individual donors through grassroots or traditional fundraising.
Experience working with disabled communities, communities of color and marginalized communities in a fundraising context, and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain these relationships.
Lived experience that supports fundraising with our community members, preferably identifies as disabled or a person with disability.
Demonstrated experience with a variety of fundraising strategies including major gifts, special events, corporate giving, employee giving, online/social media giving, and grants; knowledge and experience with planned giving a plus.
Excellent relationship building, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across programs, listen to and respect viewpoints of others and share recognition.
Effective organizational skills. Ability to develop long term plans, set objectives and track progress across goals.
Experience managing donor database, such as Little Green Light.
Experience with online fundraising platforms, such as QGiv.

DRW, a private non-profit and the designated Protection & Advocacy Agency (P&A) for people with disabilities in Washington State, is the only state-wide organization advocating solely for the rights of people with ALL disabilities, including physical, sensory, intellectual, developmental, learning, and psychiatric disabilities, traumatic brain injury and chronic illness. DRW is the only entity with broad federal access authority to reach people with disabilities wherever they live including treatment facilities, institutions, prisons, and jails—even mental health and medical units and solitary confinement.
Led by and taking direction from people with disabilities, DRW provides critical services using a variety of tools- legal, public policy and media advocacy- to creatively change systems, to equip disabled people to advocate, and to break barriers across Washington that impede equal opportunities and to promote diversity and inclusion.
Disability Rights Washington is developing internal and external structures that support our efforts to responsibly and meaningfully center race equity in our work. The ideal candidate for this position will have a well-developed equity lens that includes an understanding of systemic racism and oppression, and will be self-reflective and willing to grow and learn around these topics. The person in this position also will join the rest of staff in working closely with DRW’s race equity work. This may include utilizing DRW race equity tools, adopting DRW race equity practices, serving on the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Committee or subcommittees, etc.
