The Seattle Office of Labor Standards (OLS) is hiring a Labor Standards Engagement Specialist to assist with our outreach to workers and businesses regarding Seattle’s extensive labor protections. This is an ideal position for someone committed to working with low income, predominately BIPOC community members throughout the city.
The City of Seattle is a leader on wage, labor and workforce practices that enhance equity address wage gaps and create a fair and healthy economy for workers, businesses and residents. The mission of the Office of Labor Standards (OLS) is to advance labor standards through thoughtful community and business engagement, strategic enforcement, and innovative policy development, with a commitment to race and social justice. OLS seeks to improve workers' lives through development and implementation of laws that advance a fair and equitable workplace. Currently, our office administers 15 labor standards, including Paid Safe and Sick Time Ordinance, and Minimum Wage and Wage Theft Ordinances as well as the recently passed Independent Contractor Protections Ordinance. Implementation and understanding of these laws involve extensive outreach to inform thousands of workers, employers, hiring entities about their rights and obligations.
