The University of Washington School of Law invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer to teach the first-year Legal Analysis, Research & Writing course (LARW) with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2021. Our innovative LARW course offers first-year students seven credits of instruction in core lawyering skills including legal method, research, and writing. The successful candidate will mentor students and foster an inclusive environment. Legal writing courses at UW Law are taught by a team of dedicated and experienced faculty who stress collaboration and innovation. In collaboration with the LARW team, the successful candidate will develop curriculum that is consistently improved with new discoveries and learning outcomes. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment on a 9-month basis. This is a non-tenure eligible position. The Visiting Lecturer is likely to be assigned to teach two sections of the LARW course for the full academic year. Typical class size ranges from 17 to 22. Qualifications Applicants must have a law degree, and at least three years of post-law school experience. Teaching experience and admission to the Washington bar is preferred but not required. Additional Qualifications Positive faculty for consideration include a demonstrated record of substantial legal writing and other practice related skills, excellence in teaching or mentoring and working in a team.
