Pro Bono Council and Dementia Legal Planning Project Coordinator Position Washington Pro Bono Council (PBC) has an opening for a coordinator position to provide statewide support to PBC initiatives and assist with the implementation of Dementia Advanced Legal Planning services. This position will assist in the regular operations and special initiatives of PBC, particularly including the Dementia Advanced Legal Planningcontract that will help establish systems statewide for attorney training and client routing. While funding is expected to continue, this is a two-year grant funded position contingent on continued funding. Note that this position is a full-time remote work from home position, with significant travel around the state to meet with volunteer lawyer programs and coordinate pro bono legal activities. About Pro Bono Council and Eastside Legal Assistance Program: The Washington Pro Bono Council (PBC) is the organization that supports, coordinates, and advocates for thenetwork of the 16 Volunteer Lawyer Programs (VLPs) in the State of Washington. The VLPs are independent nonprofits offering free, high quality, efficient, and innovative civil legal assistance to low- income people in ways reflecting the history, resources, and needs of their local communities. This position responds to the needs of VLPs statewide, but is “housed” at Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) in Bellevue, WA. ELAP is one of the VLPs and provides civil legal services to survivors of domestic violence throughout King County, medical-legal assistance to individuals experiencing health- harming legal issues, assistance to individuals facing eviction or other housing problems, and pro bono legal aid. Duties: ï Provide assistance with the administration, scheduling, planning, content development, and execution ofthe Dementia Advanced Legal Planning project and other PBC operations ï Work closely with the other PBC staff to implement Dementia Advanced Legal Planning ï Organize, build and maintain a system for tracking attorneys trained in advanced care planning for people with dementia, and route clients appropriately when contacted via statewide intake line or website ï Monitor, manage, and update the pro bono council websites, social media accounts, and listservs to reflect up to date info on the Dementia Legal Planning project and other collaborative PBC projects ï Occasionally assist in reviewing, drafting, or preparing legal or other documents for the statewide Pro BonCouncil ï Attend regular meetings within the legal aid community and represent VLP interests ï Develop a collaborative working relationship with and regularly support the volunteer lawyer programsaround the state ï Develop mechanisms and tools for the sharing of resources within the pro bono community including suchmaterial as forms, volunteer recruitment and retention techniques, and program development strategies ï Participate directly in the coordination and delivery of pro bono legal services to clients ï Report to Washington Pro Bono Council Manager Qualifications:
ï Demonstrated strong written and problem solving skills, and enthusiasm to make a positive difference forlegal aid in Washington State
ï Demonstrated cultural competence and experience working with diverse low-income client communities,including communities of color, limited English proficiency and persons with disabilities
ï Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to respond competently to colleaguesand clients via email, phone, zoom, and in person
ï Independent work ethic and the ability to accomplish tasks without constant supervision (this is a fullremote work from home position with regular virtual and in person check ins)
ï Experience or familiarity with the legal, social service, or nonprofit fields is helpful,
particularly regarding areas outside of King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties.
ï Ability to learn quickly, good judgment, sense of humor, and excellent organizational and timemanagement skills.
ï Intermediate to high computer and technology competency required (familiarity with MS Office Suite or Google Apps required, ability to set up basic computer hardware and software given extra consideration)
ï Regular travel throughout the state to attend or lead meetings or legal services events is expected,though many meetings are now virtual
Working Conditions and Work Hours:
Work Hours Base 40 hours / week
Location Full remote work at home position, with significant travel across the state for meetings andprogram coordination.
Salary $51,500 / year
