Housed within the Community Services and Housing Division at the Department of Commerce, the Executive Director is selected by the Statewide Reentry Council and confirmed by the Washington State Senate.
The Executive Director is guided by a council comprised of fifteen members appointed by the Governor. Representing the Council on relevant issues to the governor, the three branches of government, and statewide communities, this position is critical to the Council’s success and provides leadership and direction on reentry across Washington state.
The Council membership includes representatives from:
the Department of Corrections;
the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration;
statewide organizations representing community and technical colleges, law enforcement interests, the interests of crime victims, prosecutors, public defenders, and businesses and employers;
housing providers;
faith-based organizations or communities;
at least two individuals with experience reentering the community after incarceration;
two community leaders; and
at least one person with a background in tribal affairs.
The incumbent may not be a member of the Council while serving as Executive Director, and will serve for three years, after which the Council may choose to renew the position.

Work From Anywhere...
This position may be located anywhere within Washington state, though occasional travel to the Olympia office or in-state travel to attend events or meetings may be required. If selected, you will need to travel to pick up equipment and receive instruction while observing social distancing. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, telework (mobile-work) is expected. When approved to return, the incumbent will work with their supervisor to identify an appropriate work schedule and balance, including telework and reporting to the Olympia, Washington duty station for work activities, if needed.
